Hands-free power liftgate (Power tailgate lift) is a back-door system, the user of the vehicle controls the liftgate/tailgate opening and closing by pressing a key located on the dashboard or handheld or remoting the key, or by using any object operation in the corresponding region of the liftgate.
In this article, we will address the frequently asked questions about power liftgates and answer them.
Q1:How do I operate my vehicle's adjustable power liftgate?
The adjustable power liftgate can be opened and closed using either a switch on the instrument panel, the Smart Key, or a switch on the door itself. The PWR DOOR OFF switch in the glove box must be in the 'operate' position for the liftgate to be operated in power mode.
To open the liftgate using the switch on the instrument panel, press and hold the switch until you hear a tone and the liftgate opens. To stop it, press again. To close it, press and hold.
To open the liftgate using the Smart Key, press and hold the rear liftgate button on the key until you hear a tone and the liftgate opens. To stop it, press again. To close it, press and hold.
To open the liftgate using the switch on the door itself, press the rectangular release button once. You'll hear a beep and the liftgate will open. To stop it, press the release again. To close the liftgate, press the button on the left side on the inside of the liftgate. To stop it, press the button again.
If the
liftgate is open and you start to lower it manually, the door will close automatically.
Q2:How do I reset the height on my vehicle's adjustable power liftgate?
With the liftgate open and not moving, press and hold the rear liftgate close-button until it beeps 4 times (button is located on the door jamb of the rear liftgate, and only accessible when the liftgate is open). Continue to hold until it beeps again, and then let go. Close the liftgate. When you next open the liftgate it will open to the maximum height.
Q3:My vehicle's adjustable power liftgate has stopped operating. Why?
Check inside the glove box, on the left side, to ensure the PWR DOOR OFF button has not been pushed. If it has not been pushed and the liftgate is still not operating, we recommended contacting your local dealership.
Q4:How do I set the height on my vehicle's adjustable power liftgate?
When the liftgate reaches the desired height, push the rear liftgate close-button once (the button is located on the doorjamb of the rear liftgate, and only accessible when the liftgate is open). Press and hold the button until it beeps 4 times.
